This is a beautifully written piece which discusses the fear and challenge of learning a new language. I am firm believer that every traveler should at least learn the ‘nice words’ in the local language but usually that still leaves you feeling a bit lost. Going a step further and learning the local language enough to converse can radically change your travel experience.
