Located in the southern part of the country, the town has a rich historic heritage. Although people had settled in the region more than 40 000 years ago, the city itself was established in 169 BC by the Romans and started its journey through time, experiencing turbulent centuries. In the 8th century, Córdoba experienced an invasion by the Islamic Emirate, whose influence is present to this day. Moreover – the historic old town is protected by UNESCO.
Indeed there are some breathtaking architectural wonders. The Roman bridge, Mosque-cathedral of Córdoba, known for its patterned interior, Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and its lush gardens or medieval Santa Marina church are just a few of numerous attractions.
