Built in the 13th century by the Moors the building originally served as a fort. Now it is the oldest royal palace in use in Europe. The monument is protected by UNESCO as it represents the historic twists and turns, as it has preserved and reflects the evidence of various eras including the Arabic period, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and the 19th century.

The complex is a little universe on its own: not only it enables a time travel through the ages, but also an exploration of various unique spaces like Spring Theater, Royal Gardens, Towers, the Cathedral that previously was a mosque and now the biggest Gothic building due to its five naves.
